Drive down the remote tracks of the Red Centre and experience the iconic landscapes and larger than life characters of the Australian Outback. And what better destination to have than the world famous natural wonders of Uluru?

Red Centre Way

The Red Centre Way is one of the Australian Outback's great drives, stretching from Alice Springs to Uluru and taking in the stunning landscapes of Kings Canyon and Ormiston Gorge. Aboriginal culture and pioneering history populate this drive peppered with historic towns and sacred indigenous sites and rock art, not to mention an abundance of nature and wildlife.

This is a desert journey to savour, covering two areas of great cultural and conservational importance, the Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Watarrka National Parks. Allow a minimum of 5 to 7 days for this journey, but take as long as you like.

Hit the highway

Uluru is a great place to base yourself. It features a range of accommodation options and endless sightseeing opportunities just a short drive or walk away. For some real Outback driving hit the Lasseter Highway and head north.

Only three hours away is the breathtaking scenery of Kings Canyon in the Watarrka National Park. Enjoy one of the many short walks around the canyon and be home in time for the gourmet outdoor dining of the Sounds of Silence at Ayers Rock Resort.

For a look into Australian pioneering history take a drive to Kings Creek Station (near Watarrka National Park), a working cattle and camel station. There are a variety of adventures on offer such as quad-biking, camel riding and motorcycle rides. Spend the night camped under the stars or bunk in one of the permanent tents.
