Experience the quiet beauty of the Davenport Range National Park, east of Tennant Creek. With access via high-clearance four-wheel drive only, this out-of-the-way place attracts intrepid lovers of outdoor adventures and is a great place to unwind and recharge.

Serious four-wheel-drive adventure

Explore the park's network of permanent waterholes and beautiful outback landscapes on some of the best four-wheel drive tracks in the NT. A network of tracks criss-cross the 1120 square kilometre park, including the challenging 17-kilometre Frew River loop track to the Old Police Station Waterhole, the park's best-known attraction. Stop to appreciate spectacular vistas from rocky ridgelines.

Sleep under the stars

Pitch a tent or roll out a swag at the park's bush camp sites at the Old Police Station Waterhole and Whistleduck Creek.

Cook your dinner on the wood barbecues, swim in the waterhole during the summer and soak up the serenity of this peaceful place.

An important wildlife refuge

If you are lucky you will spot some of the diverse wildlife that lives in the park, including the black-footed rock wallaby, emu and the Australian Bustard, an unusual ground bird called a 'bush turkey' by Aboriginal people.

Hundreds of waterbirds flock here to the sheltered gorges and permanent waterholes that are also full of several species of fish.
