Celebrate the pioneering visual arts of Nauiyu over a weekend of traditional music, dance, bush tucker, sport, and of course, art sales and auctions.
An opportunity to purchase and view indigenous art work.
The annual Merrepen Arts Festival is held in the friendly community of Nauiyu, 240 kilometres south-west of Darwin. While the exquisite visual arts of the region, based on its abundant bush tucker, are the focus of the weekend, the festival encompasses a combination of events. Ngan'giwetimbi Dememarrgu Old Stories New Ways is a cultural performance featuring dance, music and fashion centred around the traditional stories of the Nauiyu artists of Merrepen Arts and displaying the contemporary and exciting textiles that have created a stir across Australia over the past two years.
The Art Centre is open all weekend for you to peruse the beautiful works. The works are iconic of the local fauna, flora, everyday life and traditional stories, they are colourful, fresh and contemporary.
Alcohol-free event and no alcohol may be brought into the community. Food and drinks available.
