This Tiwi cultural experience begins with a 30 minute flight to Bathurst Island, where you will be greeted by your local indigenous guide and transported to the township of Nguiu. The tour begins with a stop at the local museum where there are displays of the old and new ways of Tiwi life.
You'll visit the Tiwi style Catholic Church with its artwork of both Tiwi and Christian influences and spend morning tea with the Tiwi ladies, with displays of basket weaving whilst enjoying Billy Tea and damper.
There is the opportunity to witness traditional totem dancing and smoking ceremonies, visit the local art centres and purchase arts and crafts at local Tiwi prices.
In the afternoon go for a walk with your indigenous guide and learn about bush tucker and bush medicine. Finally, after this unique experience, bid farewell to your driver and guide before returning by flight to Darwin.
