Desert Song festival in Alice Springs celebrates the magic of singing, showcasing a diversity of works performed by Aboriginal and community choirs.
Desert Song Festival returns to Central Australia in the spring of 2015 with a fresh and exciting program. The Centrepiece of the 2015 Festival will be a new choral and multi-arts work entitled 'Arrkanala Lyilhitjika' the iconic story of almost 140 years of choral practice in remote desert communities. From the opening Symposium, will follow ten days of the most captivating choral performances, chamber concerts, lunch time recitals, workshops, a 'progressive' concert through iconic heritage places, a singing tour through the Ranges and much more. "Desert Song Central' the late night festival club will be back with a great 'off the main stage' line up. And as usual, a cappella in the Gorge will be the Festival's climax. The icing on the cake will be the celebration of ten great winter seasons of the Festival's main act: the community choir Asante Sana.
