People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival

Get swept away in the sizzling sounds of Australia’s hottest artists at the BASSINTHEGRASS. Since its inception in 2003, BASSINTHEGRASS has attracted big-ticket acts to Darwin, and is now the largest musical event in the Territory. The annual events 2016 line-up features Angus & Julia Stone, Bliss n Eso, Boy & Bear, Drapht, Hermitude, SAFIA, RÜFÜS, Tkay Maidza, Violent Soho and Local Artists.

The Darwin Festival 

The Darwin Festival started in 1977 as a small celebration of the town's spirit and pride as it began the huge task of rebuilding post-Cyclone Tracy. Today it's grown to 18 exciting days and nights, and features local and touring performances and concerts, workshops, theatre, dance, comedy, cabaret, film and visual arts.


WordStorm, Darwin's illustrious festival of Australasian writing, started in 1998 and brings in an array of the country's literary heavy-hitters, from Tim Flannery to Germaine Greer. However, the festival's also renowned for its cross-culturalism, promoting an exchange between emerging indigenous and South East Asian writers.

Darwin Triple Crown V8 Supercars

The Darwin round of V8 Supercar Championship is one of the largest sporting events of the year in Darwin. Widely regarded as the best viewing tracking in Australia for punters, race fans from all corners of Australia converge on Hidden Valley Raceway to enjoy the Darwin Dry Season, the Territory hospitality and electric atmosphere of the event. The Darwin Triple Crown V8 Supercars also features 2 nights of RACE & ROCK concerts and on and off track entertainment and events.

Red Centre

Alice Desert Festival

The Alice Desert Festival fetches audiences 50,000-strong to experience what is now Central Australia's premier arts and cultural event. Running over 11 days, with over 50 events, the festival celebrates the desert and the diversity of people that live in The Red Centre.

The Alice Prize

The Alice Prize was initially held in a tin shed, the artworks hung on walls of makeshift hessian sheets. After over forty years, it's become the Territory's biggest contemporary art prize, summoning entrants from all over the country, and curated in a modern, purpose-built gallery.
